About Me

Genealogy is a great hobby. I have learned so much about history, my ancestors and struggles people went through. I have been researching along time (about 30 years)  and have a large collection of stuff. I use to have binders upon binders, but then  finally became digital and is so much easier! 

I have been published in Ancestry Magazine and in a book in Finland about my ancestry. I have taught a few genealogy workshops as well. I had a blog a few years ago, and of course technology messed it up so I am having to start over. After the blog got messed up, I gave up blogging for a while, but I want to get back into it. Share ideas and stories. I have a better sense of how to do this "BLOGGING", so I'm giving it another try! I hope you enjoy and follow me!

I may not get to blog every day, but I will do it when I can. I work full time at a job I love and have been at for over 25  years.  I have two wonderful sons, one is a young adult and the other is in high school. They keep me busy, but not like they did when they were young, so I hope to get back to furthering my research. It may be confusing to some when they see my name as Tammy Altonen Schenekl or Tammy Altonen Horak.  Altonen is my maiden name.  My first marriage I  became Schenekl, since then I've gotten divorced  and remarried a childhood friend.  So I go by Horak now.  Unfortunately when I started my website on tribalpages I named it tschenekl.tribalpages.com....and I can't change it. So this is why. I would have to start it all over, and they is way to much work!
